Plums, apples, cherries, nectarines, apricots, peaches, almonds, pecans, walnuts, english walnuts and hazelnuts. ~~ I am sure I am missing a couple :-)
Anyway, there seemed to be a slight closer and celebration feel in the air. And it has nothing to do with the Christmas or Thanksgiving holidays,, it just seemed to be a end of something.
We canned tons of the above fruits, for HOURS,, with 10 kids the winters were long and our mouths craved the fresh fruits we had so readily available to us throughout the year.
My dad and brothers would go deer hunting, elk hunting and fishing ~ we all liked to go fishing ~ but that was a lot of meat that had to be prepared and stored.
I know it sounds like a ton of work but we all chipped in and made it happen.
So I hope that this time of year is not only a reflection of the past months of work but the excitement of what is to come !
Happy August and September and HOLD ON OCTOBER< NOVEMBER < and DECEMBER !!
